For the first time in history, Cyco Mike Muir and Brother Jim 'Red Dog' Muir took to the podium sharing
stories, insights, history and the future with a privileged and select section of media, skate and music
industry representatives, in what has now already become an historic evening for those in attendance.
Held on the 26th of April at Darkside Skateboard Museum on the Gold Coast, the evening was an intimate
and close-up look into the lives of two very iconic pioneers and their respective careers, which concluded
with the screening of some never before seen Suicidal Tendencies video clips much to the liking of the
lucky guests.
The brothers shared stories and time with the crowd, offering up an opportunity for autographs,
conversation and photos at the end.
Emotional at times, hilarious at other times but mostly deep and insightful, both brothers gave
the audience a mindful of powerful and honest dialogue, which was very well received by all, the room
more often than not falling silent with everyone engaged and in awe at what was transpiring.
Jim discussed the frightening details of his near death experience in breaking his neck, and path he is
on to recovery, whilst Mike stressed the importance of true friends, family, blunt honesty and self respect.
Many thanks to all who attended and all involved, in particular Mike and Jim, their families
(who also attended), Luke Sorensen and Leigh Kelly for organising the event, Monster Energy,
as well as Mark Searle from Darkside for hosting the evening.
The room was abuzz with anticipation of the upcoming Suicidal Tendencies Australian tour, which kicks off
on May 12th at Coolangatta here on the Gold Coast.
